To understand what the Bible teaches on any subject, it must be carefully examined from Genesis to Revelation.  This is made easy by bible software such as E-Sword which this blogger uses extensively. “The SUM of your word is truth.” wrote the psalmist (119:160 emphasis added) “and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.” As we examine this list, it becomes very clear that the author of Scripture prepared the reader from the beginning, long before it happened, that Judah would not only be separated from the remaining tribes of Israel, but remains to this day. We will allow the Bible to speak for itself without any commentary except for this paragraph. We begin by seeing the man Israel becoming, first, the family of Israel and, then, the nation of Israel, comprised of the twelve tribes, or “the whole house of Israel” (Lev. 10:6, Jer. 13:11, Eze 11:15, 36:10, 37:11, 39:25, 45:6). The division of Saul’s kingdom after his death foreshadows the division of Solomon’s domain, due to his idolatry, when his son Rehoboam took the throne, and God gave the Ephraimite Jeroboam the incredible opportunity to rule the Ten Tribes. David ruled over Judah for seven years before the men of Israel made him king as well. Through these scriptures we can easily trace the results of the separation of David’s kingdom all the way to the book of Hebrews, which quotes the prophet Jeremiah’s words concerning the New Covenant. May Yahweh bless your study of His word.
